From 30% to 70% own energy supply

The S³ Smart Solar Storage buffers your solar electricity in a compact but very powerful lithium battery  instead of injecting your surplus solar energy into the distribution grid. Alternatively, an environment-friendly salt water battery can be used. As soon as your self-generated energy is no longer enough to power your devices, the S³ jumps in. The energy stored in the battery is then fed back into your own electricity grid via the integrated converter. If your battery is empty, the distribution grid will still help out until the next sunny day. Battery storage increases your private energy supply from 30% to 70%. 

With the S³ you also increase your independence in the event of a power outage.
Freezer, refrigerator, PC, CH pump, ... continue to function via the integrated emergency power functionality (No-Break).

How much autonomy do I have with a 6.4kWh battery capacity?
In the winter mode (battery always fully charged) and 500W of consumption (e.g. freezer, CH pump and several energy-saving lamps), you’ll have an autonomy of around 10 hours.

Easy installation

Installing the S³ is easy, the system is connected parallel to your electrical installation.  The S³ Smart Solar Storage works together with every solar energy converter on the market and is also easy to integrate into existing installations.
Need more storage capacity? Expand the S³ with extra modules to a maximum storage capacity of ±18kWh. Still not enough? Then just install an extra S³.
The S³ is a smart system and works fully automatically. However, if you wish to monitor your S³ this can be done easily online or via your smartphone.

Small-scale battery storage: a promising reality

These days, the themes of energy storage  and self-consumption are more relevant than ever. Large-scale projects are regularly announced in the media, but fail to be implemented. By contrast, small-scale energy storage is a reality here and now. End users can already make their contribution to a better environment and save their surplus solar energy during the day, then use it in the evening.

Decentralised production linked to battery storage and smart grids aren´t “nice-to-have” but a “must” for a sustainable future.

The S³ Smart Solar Storage was developed in order to participate in this sustainable development. Research has shown that an average household consumes only 30% of the solar energy it generates itself. In other words, 70% gets fed into the distribution grid. With the S³ Smart Solar Storage, you’ll reverse these figures: 70% own consumption and 30% injection into the network.

Smart Solar Storage – parallel system 3kVA

This battery storage system works in parallel with an existing system with a single-phase (= 1F) or 3-phase (= 3F) grid connection and is compatible with any make of solar inverter.
Depending on the grid connection (1F or 3F) and the PV inverter (1F or 3F), other AC smart meters are used for the readout on the Color Control. For the selection of the right type, consult the selection table on the next page.
The S³-3K is a complete installation package for the specialist and consists of:

  • A MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-32 inverter/charger
  • A Color Control regulation and monitoring module fitted to the MultiPlus-II
  • One or two AC smart meters with 5m interface cable (to be installed right behind the meter connection)
  • Programming of the system and configuration of the monitoring via the Victron Energy VRM portal
  • CAN cable for communication with (lithium) batteries

A battery is an essential part of a self-consumption system and we recommend choosing a lithium battery for this. Alternatively, you could opt for an environment-friendly salt water battery. Studies have shown that for an average home (consumption ± 5000kWh) a ratio of battery storage/consumption of 1.25kWh/1MWh is regarded as optimal.  

The modular lithium battery from Pylontech is the ideal solution for this; each module has a nominal capacity of 2.4 kWh and up to a maximum of 8 modules can be connected in parallel (useful capacity 17.6 kWh). For a balanced system, we recommend a maximum of 4 modules in the configuration referred to above. 

Greenrock salt water batteries have a nominal capacity of 2.7kWh and available energy of 2.5kWh at a charge and discharge current of 5A (240W). The stacks can be connected in parallel almost without any limit, but for a balanced system, we recommend at least 3 stacks.

The Pylontech modules and salt water batteries are supplied complete with battery and data cables.

Smart Solar Storage – parallel system 3kVA with MPPT

This battery storage system works in parallel with an existing system with a single-phase (= 1F) or 3-phase (= 3F) grid connection and is supplied complete with an MPPT solar charger (3kW) which charges the battery directly. This system has a higher efficiency than with an AC solar inverter. An additional advantage is that in the event of a mains power failure, the MPPT solar charger continues charging the battery. Depending on the grid connection (1F or 3F), another AC smart meter is used for the readout on the Color Control. For the selection of the right type, consult the selection table on the next page.

The S³-3K-1.-PV1 is a complete installation package for the specialist and consists of:

  • A MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-32 inverter/charger
  • A Smart MPPT 250/60Tr solar charger with VE-Direct communication cable
  • A Color Control regulation and monitoring module fitted to the MultiPlus-II
  • An AC smart meter with 5m interface cable (to be installed right behind the meter connection)
  • Programming of the system and configuration of the monitoring via the Victron Energy VRM portal
  • CAN cable for communication with (lithium) batteries

This battery storage system works in parallel with an existing system with a 3-phase (= 3F) mains connection and is compatible with any make of solar inverter.
Using 2 smart energy meters, the mains connection can be monitored on the one hand, and on the other, the solar energy output can be read off via the Color Control. Depending on the connection of the PV inverter (1F or 3F), other AC smart meters are used for the readout on the Color Control. For the selection of the right type, consult the selection table on the next page.

The S³-9K is a complete installation package for the specialist and consists of:

  • 3 pcs. MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-32 inverter/charger (1 per phase)
  • A Color Control regulation and monitoring module fitted to the MultiPlus-II (master)
  • 2 pcs. AC smart meter with 5m interface cable (to be installed right behind the meter connection, with the other between the solar-inverter and the grid)
  • CAN-cable for communication with (lithium) batteries
