Victron has released Venus OS v3.80. This update includes a wide range of improvements for GX systems, with GX Opportunity Loads and the further expansion of Node-RED standing out in particular.
GX Opportunity Loads: make better use of your own solar energy
With GX Opportunity Loads, a Victron system can automatically use surplus solar energy for flexible loads such as an EV charger, water heater, heating system or other controllable loads. Priorities can be set to determine which load should make use of the available surplus first.
This is a valuable addition to Dynamic ESS. Dynamic ESS primarily optimises the system based on energy prices and forecasts, while GX Opportunity Loads focuses on maximising local, real-time use of available solar energy.
More possibilities with Node-RED
Node-RED has also received a significant expansion. New features make it easier to create custom automations, display statuses and control devices. These include new virtual devices, improved virtual switches and built-in hysteresis for automations.
In addition, Venus OS v3.80 introduces EEBUS monitoring for compatible heat pumps and EV chargers, improved Shelly integration, a redesigned mobile interface and various enhancements to Dynamic ESS, peak shaving and VRM.
