Project in the spotlight: temporary lighting in tanks

Special equipment must be used when working inside a tank (typically in order to clean it). After all, such a space is a conductive, confined space with a danger of explosion.

Ysebaert was commissioned to build a set for temporary lighting.
This set consists of:

  • A full-rubber worksite box with isolation transformer 230VAC/24VAC
  • A full-rubber junction box (low-voltage)
  • Four lightweight, polypropylene LED lamps of 35W on 24VAC (with handy magnets)

The isolation transformer must be installed outside the conductive space, while the junction box can be taken into the tank.
The four lamps are then connected to the junction box.
This setup makes it possible to mount the lamps 30 metres from the manhole.
It is suitable for zone 1 (= 2G), gas group IIC and temperature class T4.
