Victron Energy is further expanding the possibilities for energy-independent installations with the introduction of its new Microgrid solution. This technology allows multiple independent energy storage systems to operate together on a shared electrical network without complex control systems or high-voltage infrastructure.
What is a microgrid?
A microgrid is a local electrical network that can operate independently from the public utility grid. It combines energy generation, energy storage, and electrical loads within a single integrated system. This creates a reliable and flexible power supply, even in locations where no grid connection is available or where temporary power is required.
With Victron’s new solution, multiple independent energy systems, known as “Power Banks,” are connected to a common AC bus. Each Power Bank has its own inverters, batteries, charging sources, and monitoring capabilities. The systems automatically share the load and operate together in a stable manner without the need for a central controller or communication cabling.

Modular and Easily Scalable
One of the key advantages of the Victron Microgrid solution is its modular design. Systems can be built using standard Victron components such as the MultiPlus, MultiPlus-II, Quattro, and Quattro-II.
As energy demand grows, additional Power Banks can simply be added. This allows the system to scale up to outputs of as much as 400 kW without major modifications to the existing installation.

Ideal Applications
The Victron Microgrid solution offers opportunities across a wide range of sectors:
- Remote locations without grid access
- Temporary construction sites
- Festivals and events
- Industrial applications
- Agricultural operations
- Mobile power stations
- Local energy communities and residential clusters
Its modular architecture allows users to invest according to their current energy needs while retaining the flexibility to expand later.
Available for Existing VE.Bus Systems
Microgrid functionality is available for the existing VE.Bus inverter/charger range through dedicated firmware versions S97 and S98. As a result, many existing installations can benefit from this new technology without significant hardware modifications.
With this development, Victron takes another important step toward flexible, scalable, and future-proof off-grid energy solutions.
